Gender in Psychology

Gender is recognized to be an important component in the understanding many aspects of behavior.  In psychology gender is often observed without much consciousness, but recognizing its significance of different ways in experimental research can help identify more beneficial ways to use gender to study psychological phenomenas.


 Psychological research on gender frequently focuses on sex differences, within sex variability, and gender roles - has begun to integrate a new understanding.  Psychologists can advance in the understanding of gender's significance with the following resources: social science theories that link individual and social levels of analysis, constructs, and conceptual tools generated in feminist theory.
